Good News! Lamine Yamal & Nico Williams Fit for the World Cup
Spain breathes a sigh of relief ahead of the World Cup: Spain officially delivers good news for the superstar duo.
m88worldcups.com – Spain’s young stars, Lamine Yamal (18) and Nico Williams (23), will be fit in time for the start of the World Cup.
Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente has confirmed that both wingers will be available for the opening match against Cape Verde on June 16. CA Osasuna player Víctor Muñoz is also expected to be fit for the match in Atlanta.
Yamal and Williams Miss Final Warm-Up Match
Barcelona winger Yamal and Athletic Bilbao forward Williams were both absent from Spain’s final warm-up match against Peru in Puebla on Monday after suffering thigh injuries.
"It is unfortunate that they are not with us, but the medical staff and fitness coaches have advised us to allow them to remain at the team camp in the United States," said de la Fuente.
Discussing the upcoming tournament, the coach added:
"All three of them will be available for the next match."
The Importance of Yamal and Williams for Spain
Yamal, who has been sidelined due to the injury he suffered with Barcelona at the end of April, is regarded as a key figure in Spain’s attack, while Williams also played an important role in their triumph at the 2024 European Championship.
Without Yamal’s presence, Spain were only able to secure a 1-1 draw in a friendly match against Iraq.
Spain’s Group Stage Opponents
In the group stage, the European champions will face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay.
